Dr Weston completed undergraduate studies at the University of Otago, NZ before commencing employment at the Hammersmith Hospital, London, where she held a research position in clinical cardiology. After completing a PhD in physiology, Dr Weston held academic posts at the University of Natal Medical School, South Africa and the University of Sydney, Australia. Since 2000, Dr Weston has worked as a consultant in the field of health outcomes research and health economics in Australia and the UK, including as a government HTA evaluator. Dr Weston currently serves on the NHMRC panel of evidence-based medicine experts, providing methodological advice to developers of Clinical Practice Guidelines. Dr Weston has been a Director of Health Technology Analysts since 2002.
Dr Weston has expertise in critique of clinical and epidemiological evidence, treatment survey design, economic evaluations, valuation studies, and the evaluation of procedural and diagnostic technologies. Dr Weston has published widely in the scientific and clinical literature and continues to hold an honorary academic appointment at the University of Sydney.
Current research interests include evaluation of diagnostic and screening interventions, and determination of preference-based utility weights for use in economic evaluations.
Dr Weston is a member of HTAi, ISPOR, AHES, iHEA, and ARCS.
