64-slice or higher computed tomography angiography in the investigation of patients with suspected coronary artery disease ( PDF 2MB )

Systematic review update

This systematic review update summarises recent evidence pertaining to the clinical effectiveness of 64-slice or higher computed tomography angiography (CTA) in patients with suspected coronary artery disease (CAD). A systematic method of literature searching, study selection, and quality assessment was employed. Individual and pooled diagnostic performance measures were calculated at the patient, vessel and segment level. The report discusses the implications of findings for patient management, with CTA found to be a highly effective non-invasive alternative to ICA for the exclusion of obstructive coronary artery stenosis.
